Health workers should be given preference in medical care demands IDPD

Ludhiana: The Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) notes with serious concern death of nearly 200 doctors during the COVID crisis. It is time to salute these Corona warriors who are leaving no stones unturned to meet the challenge of this Pandemic. It is unfortunate that General Practitioners of  all age groups who are working at the grass roots level are more in number of those dead. In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister the IDPD has demanded from the government to ensure that every doctor in public or private sector gets regular supply of protective kits. The doctors and their staff  should be subjected to regular COVID tests without any hassle free of cost at the government and private facilities to asses the spread of infection among them. Families of all the health workers should be given a compensation  of One Crore rupees in case of death. Those engaged in COVID management centers directly should be compensated double in case of the  unforeseen event. Those doctors engaged in relatively hazardous situations like the ones directly exposed to respiratory areas and  who are more susceptible to infection should be given special care. Doctors and other health workers in state services and private sector should be given incentive in their salary.   The ASHA and Aanganwadi workers should be given more wages and regularized. In case of  required the health workers should be given admission in the hospital  and the government should bear all the expenses.

Those who issued statement include Dr S S Soodan President, Dr Arun Mitra Sr Vice President, Dr Shakeel Ur Rahman General Secretary and Dr Bharti Uppal Finance Secretary of the IDPD.
