The Equal Opportunity Cell for Persons with Disabilities (EOC-PwDs) and the Department of Alumni Relations, Panjab University (PU), in collaboration with the Vardhman Group, Ludhiana, organized a heart-warming Assistive Aid Distribution Program at the Alumni House, Panjab University. Heart-warming Assistive Aid Distribution Program at Alumni House, Panjab University

Chandigarh, January 21, 2025: The Equal Opportunity Cell for Persons with Disabilities (EOC-PwDs) and the Department of Alumni Relations, Panjab University (PU), in collaboration with the Vardhman Group, Ludhiana, organized a heart-warming Assistive Aid Distribution Program at the Alumni House, Panjab University. The event underscored PU's commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities for students with disabilities.

This initiative was strongly encouraged by Prof. Harsh Nayyar, Former Director, RDC, PU, whose guidance and support laid the foundation for such inclusive efforts at the university.

The program saw the gracious presence of Prof. Yojna Rawat, Director, RDC, PU; Prof. Latika Sharma, Dean, Alumni Relations; and Dr. Ramesh Kataria, Nodal Officer for PwDs, who extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and beneficiaries.

S P Oswal, Padma Bhushan awardee, and Chairman and Managing Director, Vardhman Textiles Limited, took a noble initiative by donating two motorized wheelchairs for locomotive-impaired students and a DAISY player learning device for a visually impaired student of Panjab University. These aids will empower the students to overcome challenges and pursue their academic goals with greater ease.

The prompt arrangement and delivery of the assistive devices were coordinated by Amit Jain, CSR Head, Vardhman Textiles Limited. The event was graced by Vishal Chandel, Manager CSR, and Mandeep Kaushik, Senior Manager, Vardhman Textiles Limited, who personally visited PU to participate in the distribution program. Their presence reinforced the Vardhman Group's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Special recognition was extended to Dr. Ravi Inder Singh from PU Regional Centre, who played a pivotal role in coordinating with Vardhman Textiles to ensure the success of this initiative.

Among the beneficiaries of this thoughtful gesture were Ravi Rawal and Pradeepak Josan, locomotive-impaired students, and Mandeep Singh, a visually impaired student, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the support extended by Vardhman Group and Panjab University.

The event was further enriched by the presence of other esteemed guests, including Prof. Anuradha, Prof. O. P. Katare, Manu Sharma, Manish Mittal, and Anil Sharma, as well as distinguished alumni of Panjab University, who came together to support and celebrate this significant initiative.
