HEINOUS CRIMES: SP to be held responsible for delay in action

Chandigarh/Patiala, December 27, 2012: Taking serious cognizance of suicide of a girl after failing to get justice in a gangrape case in Patiala district, the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today issued directions to DGP Sumedh Singh that SSP of concerned district would be held personally responsible for any delay in investigation or action in any case of heinous crime especially crime against women in his district.

The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister who is also home minister of the state has asked Punjab Police Chief to issue immediate directions to all SSPs to conduct a thorough review of cases in their respective district and ensure strict compliance of government directions. He has asked DGP to take strict administrative action against concerned SSP found wanting in such cases.
