Ludhiana, September 29, 2024: Embracing the theme "Use Heart for Action," Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI) commemorated World Heart Day with a range of community-focused initiatives under the DMC&H Outreach Health Education Programme.
Department of Cardiology, Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI) proudly announces a significant milestone in its community-focused Basic Life Support training program, which commenced one year ago.
Over the past year, HDHI expert doctors have made a significant impact by training 3000 individuals in lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) skills. Continuing this momentum, 25 participants joined today's hands-on training session, conducted by HDHI's experienced doctors. Upon completion, each participant received a badge, recognizing their newfound skills by Mukesh Kumar, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society and Dr Bishv Mohan, Professor & Head of Cardiology.
A specialized workshop on advanced pacemaker techniques for patients with weak hearts was conducted by Dr. Gurpreet S. Wander, Dr. Naved Aslam, and their team. During the session, cardiologists from the region received hands-on training, with five cases successfully completed as part of the workshop.
Free Heart Check-up camp at Pohir, inaugurated by Sh. Mukesh Kumar, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society. A team of esteemed medical professionals Dr Surinder Pal Singh, Community Medicine, Dr Tasleem Arif, Dr Sahil Sheokand (Cardiologists), Dr Mohit Tayal, Echo Fellow and Dr Mamta Bansal Radiologist from HDHI participated in the health camp, providing expert care and check-ups to patients. As part of its outreach, Hero DMC Heart Institute provided free tests like HB, ECG, echocardiography and blood sugar screenings at Pohir. 190 heart patients, receiving comprehensive cardiac evaluations and receiving necessary guidance. Awareness lecture on heart health at Pohir and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU). The awareness lecture, delivered by Dr. Rohit Tondon and Dr. Ankit Gulia at GADVASU, emphasized the rising prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and the importance of a heart-healthy lifestyle. Key risk factors such as poor diet, physical inactivity, smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption were highlighted. The initiative underscored the importance of regular health check-ups for the early detection of hypertension and diabetes—two major risk factors for heart disease.
Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, emphasized HDHI's commitment to promoting a healthier society through awareness and education. "Our outreach programs empower individuals with life-saving knowledge, ensuring equal access to essential healthcare services across urban and rural areas."
