Ludhiana, October 18, 2012: Hero DMC Heart Institute is organising 21st National Conference of Hypertension Society of India on October 20 and 21. The conference will be held in Nirvana Club Aveda Hotel on Hambran Road, Ludhiana.
Giving information, Organising Chairperson and Chief Cardiologist of HDHI- Dr. G.S Wander said that hypertension is one of the most common diseases afflicting 25% of the adult population all over the world. It affects Urban people 2 times more than the rural. Hypertension is the leading cause of heart attack and brain strokes besides kidney failure. Since it produces few symptoms patients are often not regular in drug treatment which needs to be life long. The Indian experts have given Indian guidelines on management of hypertension according to our environment and social structure. These will be discussed at length during the meeting.
Organizing Secretary- Dr Naved Aslam said that the conference will include comprehensive scientific sessions on various aspects of hypertension and its associated problems by distinguished faculty from various parts of the country including Dr KK Talwar, Former Director of PGIMER, Chandigarh,Dr Rajesh Kumar Head of SPM department PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr Shashank Joshi, The President of Association of Physician of India from Mumbai, Dr. BM Hegde Former vice chancellor Manipal University, Dr C Venkata S.Ram form Hyderabad, and Dr Siddharth S Shah who is the editor of the prestigious Journal of Association of Physicians of India. The two-day conference has been granted 8 credit hours by Punjab Medical Council.
Prem Gupta, Secretary, DMCH Managing Society informed that in our pursuit for excellence in Medical care it is our effort to bring National and International experts to this region so that our physicians from North India can deliberate on common issues. This should translate into better patient care which is based on evidence based guidelines.
The conference will be from 9 am to 5 pm on the both days and on Saturday there will be a live case relay from Care Hospital, Hyderabad of a new technique of Renal denervation therapy for treatment of resistant hypertension.
Dr. Anthony Heagerty from University of Manchester UK will participate and speak on some common drugs which are used for treatment of hypertension. There will be discussion on important issues like pregnancy and hypertension, treatment of heart failure and role of Vitamin D in lifestyle diseases.
