HI-Bird to showcase it’s battery operated e-rickshaw at 4-day MachAuto Expo in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, February 13, 2014: Ludhiana based Hi-bird bicycles, manufacturer and exporter of world renowned bi-cycles and Eco-Rickshaw cabs will be showcasing its fully indigenously developed battery operated e-rickshaws to promote eco-friendly transportation in the state of Punjab at the four day Mach Auto Expo to begin in Ludhiana from February 14-17

“Hi-Bird’s affordable e-Rickshaw is a sincere effort to provide pollution free mode of transportation in city of Ludhiana. Company’s e-Rickshaw powered by batteries, aims to ensure reduction in carbon footprint with zero emissions and zero sound. The state of the art vehicles main components are fully recyclable, which includes polyethylene cabin, a heavy duty modular steel frame and an advanced digitally controlled electric propulsion system” said R.D. Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, Hi-bird bicycles, which is part of Safari Group.

“The Hi-bird e-Rickshaw has been designed with host of safety features suited to the Indian rugged-conditions. These include advanced disc braking system, turn signals, rear view mirrors and safety barriers on both sides for passengers. It has a set of four batteries and these can run for about 80km once fully charged at a maximum speed of about 25 km/per hour.  It is sleek and can carry six passengers plus the driver and has a running cost of less than Rs 1 per km”, said Sharma

“The electric rickshaws popularly known as e-Rickshaws, which are almost maintenance free are becoming current mode of transport in various major and small cities in the country. We are convinced of replacing the present mode of transport in the urban and rural cities and villages of India with this new offering of battery powered e-Rickshaw. This battery operated rickshaw is safe, suitable and non polluting mode of transport that prevent the grind a normal rickshaw puller goes through and helps him to receive better and in a venerable way.” said Sharma.

“Environment pollution is going to be one the biggest problem in the coming years and keeping that in mind we had earlier developed the affordable Eco-Cab rickshaws suited to Indian rugged conditions which are quiet popular in Punjab and Chandigarh.
