Himachal CM in Dharamshala
To look at the possibility of BJP command in Kangra Zila Parishad
Dharamshala: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has reached 11.45 for his one-day Dharamshala tour. The CM was welcomed at the police ground by BJP office bearers including Assembly Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar, members of the cabinet, Rakesh Pathania, Sarveen Chaudhary and Bikram Thakur.
When asked about the farmers’ agitation, The Chief Minister said that the January 26 act of the Kisan agitation is unfortunate. “The farmers work in the fields, the way these people are sitting on the roads, trying to destroy the law system, cannot be the farmers,” said Jai Ram Thakur.
It looks like the only reason for his day's arrival here is the election of the president and the vice-president Zila Parishad of Kangra, (the largest populated district of Himachal). The district council president and vice-president are to be chosen in Dharamshala on January 30. BJP has won 28 seats in the Zilla Parishad election. Apart from this, the Congress has won 18 seats and 10 independents won as well. While the ruling party is claiming that all the independents will join the BJP, the Congress also has a clear claim that the independents will be the Congress' peasants. District Congress Committee President Ajay Mahajan had made it clear on the day of the election result that senior party leaders would hold meetings with the Independents and the District Council President would be from the Congress party. It is believed in the political circles that Kangra District is always the trend setter of state politics.
