Himachal may conduct Municipal Corporation elections on party symbols: CM

Dharamshala: “Himachal government is planning to conduct Elections in all the five municipal corporations of the state on the party symbols and for it the government shall amend the needed act,” Said Chief Minister Jairam Thakur while addressing the media in Palampur on Sunday . CM indicated that Four out of these five MCs are going to have municipal elections probably in the last week of March 2021. The Corporations which shall go to march poll shall be Dharsamsala and newly created Corporations of Palampur, Mandi and Solan .
“Recently Elections have been completed for Gram Panchayats, Nagar Panchayats, Nagar Parishads, Zilla Parishads and Block Development Committees in Himachal Pradesh. Of course gram panchayat elections were not contested on the party symbols, but In these elections, the supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party have won a majority of seats ,” said CM.
Jai Ram Thakur said,” according to the results available so far, BJP has won all the 7 Zila Parishads, 18 Nagar parishads out of 29, 14 Nagar Psanchayats out of 21, 61 Block Smitis out of 69 and 75% of the total declared seats of Gram Pradhans in recent elections.” He said that his government has created a record by constituting 3 New Municipal Corporations, 379 new Panchayats and 7 new Nagar Parishads in a single stroke in HP.
He said that Himachal Pradesh will organize 51 programs in Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Year of its statehood. These programs will start from 15 April. The main focus in these programs will be to give the picture of Himachal then and now to the public. Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said during a press conference in Palampur that after the completion of three years in Himachal, now the main target of the government is the 2022 assembly. “ After the last assembly elections in the state BJP won all the 4 Lok Sabha seats, 2 assembly by elections of Dharamsala and Pachhad now the panchayat elections, which indicate that we will return to power in 2022 ,” said CM.
