Dharamsala, September 5, 2013: K. R. Kamath, Chairman & Managing Director of Punjab National Bank (PNB) has said, “The business of the PNB remained above Rs.7,00,000 crore as at end June ’13 while overseas business crossed Rs 50,000 crore registering  growth of over 40%. The Bank’s Global deposits stood close to Rs.4 lakh crore while Gross Global Credit remained above Rs 3 lakh crore as at end June’13.”

He said that the deposits of the Bank in Himachal Pradesh touched Rs 13500 crore, Non Food credit touched Rs 3400 crore as at Aug’13.

K. R. Kamath who was addressing the official of Circle on Thursday at Dharamsala said, “ Punjab National Bank is lead bank in the six districts of Himachal  out of total twelve districts in the state.  There are total 972 branches of Public Sector Banks in HP out of which PNB is having 270 branches in the state.”

While deposit of the bank in Dharamsala Circle crossed Rs.3350 crore, advances touched Rs.733 crore. The low cost deposits crossed Rs. 1365 crore and the share of CASA Deposits stood at 41 % of core deposits as at end of August 2013. 

Total Priority Sector Advances of the Dharmsala Circle as on August 2013 are Rs.642cr. which is 88% of the total advances, whereas Agriculture Advances stand at Rs.283cr. which is 39% of the total advances.  Kisan Credit Cards portfolio of the Circle is Rs.142cr comprising of 21700 farmers.  Our Circle has issued Rupay Kisan ATMs to 18145 farmers i.e. 96% of eligible KCC holders. We have also financed 3166 farmers with an outstanding amount of Rs.23Cr under Debt Swap Scheme.

While his visit to Dharamsala circle, CMD convened the managers’ meetings and emphasised upon the importance of the customer service. He also emphasised the need for leveraging technology for extending faster and convenient delivery of services to the customers.

The staff meeting was also organised in the evening where he motivated the staff members for better performance.  He also met the customers of the Bank and assured them of continued support in their economic pursuits.

Vinay Kumar, Field General Manager, Himachal Pradesh also addressed the Field staff.
