Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu embarks on traditional winter sojourn to Kangra District
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is set to begin his traditional winter sojourn to Kangra district, a practice initiated by former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. Starting tomorrow (Thursday), the 10-day visit will see CM Sukhu running the government from Dharamshala, the winter capital of the state.
Dharamshala, January 15, 2025: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is set to begin his traditional winter sojourn to Kangra district, a practice initiated by former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. Starting tomorrow (Thursday), the 10-day visit will see CM Sukhu running the government from Dharamshala, the winter capital of the state.
According to tour program issued by Pr.Secratary –cum –special Secretary To CM ,Vivek Bhatia , The Chief Minister's chopper will depart from Shimla and arrive in Dharamshala at 2:55 PM on Thursday. Upon his arrival, CM Sukhu will convene a meeting with officials at the Mini Secretariat. Later in the evening, he will inaugurate the Zila Parishad meeting hall and building, constructed at a cost of ₹3.17 crore. He will also inaugurate the Mahila Police Station building in Dharamshala, lay the foundation stone for the Dhauladhar Food Street Market near the Cricket Stadium Road, and inaugurate a hostel at the Regional Mountaineering Center along with a solar power plant. A public hearing will follow in the Mini Secretariat, where he will address the grievances of the local residents.
January 18: CM Sukhu will visit Haripur, Nagrota Surian, and Jwali areas, where he will inaugurate the Wildlife Information Center and lay the foundation stone for a high-level bridge over the Gaj Khad. Other highlights include the foundation stone laying for the Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding School and the inauguration of the Urban Water Supply Scheme in the Jwali Assembly constituency. Several other projects will also be launched during the visit.
January 19: The Chief Minister will head to the Nurpur Assembly constituency to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various development projects. A public hearing (darbar) will also be held to address local issues.
January 20: CM Sukhu will offer prayers at the renowned Hidimba Mata Temple in Manali, Kullu district. Subsequently, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for over a dozen projects in the area.
January 21–25: The Chief Minister will return to Dharamshala, where he will hold departmental meetings, oversee development projects, and interact with the public. The sojourn will conclude with his participation in the Statehood Day celebrations in Baijnath on January 25, after which he will return to Shimla.
During his winter stay, CM Sukhu is expected to announce projects worth crores of rupees for Kangra district. His engagements include public hearings, inaugurations, and laying the foundation stones of significant infrastructure projects aimed at boosting development across the region.
