Himachal Pradesh to boost tourism with Rs.696.47 Crore Infrastructure Investment
In a significant move to bolster tourism in Himachal Pradesh, Tourism Corporation Chairman RS Bali announced the commencement of 11 major projects worth Rs 696.47 crore. These initiatives aim to enhance the state's infrastructure, increase tourist inflow, and create self-employment opportunities in the tourism sector.
Dharamshala, August 26, 2024: In a significant move to bolster tourism in Himachal Pradesh, Tourism Corporation Chairman RS Bali announced the commencement of 11 major projects worth Rs 696.47 crore. These initiatives aim to enhance the state's infrastructure, increase tourist inflow, and create self-employment opportunities in the tourism sector.
Speaking at a late-night meeting with the Hotel Association officials in McLeodganj, Bali detailed the upcoming projects. Key developments include the construction of a convention center in Dharamshala at a cost of Rs 161.91 crore, beautification projects in Palampur and Nagarota Bagwan worth Rs 95.50 crore, and the establishment of a Wellness Center in Naidun with an investment of Rs 91.42 crore. Additionally, Rs 65.32 crore will be allocated to improve tourist facilities at Baba Balaknath Ji Deotsidh in Hamirpur district.
Other notable projects include the development of a rafting complex in Naidun for Rs 64 crore, and infrastructure enhancements in Banuti, Shimla district, at a cost of Rs 58.37 crore. Wellness centers are also planned for Kullu (Rs 27.76 crore) and Manali (Rs 45.25 crore). The construction of ice skating and roller skating rinks in Dharamshala (Rs 39.51 crore) and Shimla (Rs 34.85 crore) is set to begin, alongside the renovation of Naggar Castle in Kullu district, with a budget of Rs 11.57 crore.
Bali also highlighted plans to develop Pong Dam into an international-level "Bird's Paradise," positioning it as a national center of excellence for water sports. Furthermore, the expansion of Kangra airport is expected to significantly boost tourism, making the region more accessible to visitors.
He noted a remarkable increase in tourist arrivals, with 1.13 crore visitors to Himachal Pradesh by July 2024, underscoring the state's growing appeal as a top travel destination.
