Hindi Diwas celebrated at Apeejay College of Fine Arts


Hindi Diwas being celebrated at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar on Saturday.

Jalandhar, September 27, 2014: Department of Hindi of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised Hindi Diwas on Saturday in which Raminder Jakhu ‘Sahil’ was the Chief Guest.  Jakhu is a retired IAS officer and an award winning Hindi poet of national repute. A galaxy of well known Hindi poets were present on the occasion.

Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, HOD of Hindi, Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala and Dr Meenu Nanda, HOD of Hindi, B.D Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Cantt regaled the audience with self composed poems. The students also recited poems by different well known Hindi poets.  The poems touched on different aspects of life, nature, information technology etc.

The department also organised a Debate Competition to mark the event. The topics for the competition were Kya Manviya Rishte Apni Garima Kho Rahe Hain, Kya Aadhunik Shiksha Pranali Vidiyarthiyon Ke Sapne Sakar Karne Mein Saksham Hai and Kya Aarakshan Aaj Bhi Zaruri Hai Shiksha Evam Rozgar Ke Kshetra Mein. The students who wrote in favour of the topic and won prizes were Saloni, Gagan, Simran and Barleen and the students who wrote against the topic and won prizes were Rishabdeep Kaur, Diksha, Damanpreet, Hitika.  As a special tribute to the Hindi poet Suryakant Tripathi Nirala his poem ‘Var De Veena Vadhini Var De’ was sung by the students of Hindi and Music as a part of Saraswati Vandana.

Dr. Sucharita, Principal of the College stated that participation in this event was intended to inculcate in students a sensitivity towards the different aspects of life and Indian Culture. She congratulated Dr. Anjana, Head of the Department of Hindi on the successful organisation of ‘Hindi Diwas’.
