Hindu temple planned in England’s Milton Keynes

A Hindu temple, complete with cultural and community hall, has been reportedly planned in the Tattenhoe ward of Milton Keynes borough in Buckinghamshire county in South East region of England. Land has been secured for this temple complex spread over 894 square meters area in two floors. Planning application has been submitted to Milton Keynes Council on March 12, reports suggest. Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commended efforts of temple leaders and area community towards realizing this temple complex. Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this temple would help in this direction. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about 1.1 billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. Milton Keynes, one of the fastest growing centers in United Kingdom, is home to over 22 million trees/shrubs, The Peace Pagoda, public sculpture The Concrete Cows; and parks-lake-greenspaces cover about 25% of its area. Various bands were formed here and prominent people associated with it include Olympian Greg Rutherford, actor Kevin Whately. Peter Marland is Leader of Milton Keynes Council, while Michael Bracey is Chief Executive.
