Historical Olympic Gold won by its student Neeraj Chopra and Top Global Ranking make 2021 for LPU a memorable one

Jalandhar, December 30, 2021: Lovely Professional University (LPU) has always earned heightened standing in the educational realms with the passage of each year. Operating inventively ever, LPU has once again proved over-the-top among others even in the unbridled year- 2021.
Elegance at Olympics-2020: Ending the long wait of 100 years, LPU’s BA student Neeraj Chopra created history by winning ‘Gold Medal’ at Tokyo Olympics 2020; whereas, MA Public Administration student Bajrang Punia won Bronze. Captained by LPU’s MBA student Manpreet Singh, the Men's Hockey team also brought Bronze for the country. Two of its students, Neeraj Chopra and Manpreet Singh are also awarded the highest sports award “Khel Ratna” of the country. 13 out of 14 LPU students won Tokyo Olympics medals. Paralympian Nishad Kumar won the silver medal. Among all Indian Universities, LPU became the largest contributor to Olympics-2020 where nearly 10% of the Indian participants were LPU students.
Ranking & Awards: Winning many ranks, awards and accolades in 2021, LPU has been included amongst the top 200 Universities of the world in Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings- 2021, ahead of all the participating IITs & NITs. Ministry of Education’s (Govt. of India) National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2021 has ranked LPU 62nd amongst all, with being 12th in Architecture; 23rd in Pharmacy; 24th in Law. Lately, only on 29th November 2021, MoE’s Innovation Cell has announced LPU at 3rd position in the country for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements-ARIIA 2021. In the ‘World University Rankings- 2022’ system of `Times Higher Education’, LPU is ranked 8th amongst top universities of India for Clinical & Health, 9th in Computer Science, 10th in Engineering & Life Sciences and 36th overall. Thousands of Universities from across 99 countries participated in THE rankings.
Research: LPU scientists and researchers also filed hundreds of patents for novel devices, methodologies, and also acted to control the deadly COVID 19 virus and severe pandemic thereupon. Biomedical Engineering student won at the national level for his AI based Neurox Technologies- to check mental health epidemic; and, Italian University bestowed top-prize to Bio-Technology researchers’ 3-Million Euro project on ‘Vertical Farming’. Also envisioning as India’s foremost private space research institution, LPU established ‘Professional Space Station for Multiple Satellites Tracking and Telemetry’ at the campus.
Placements: 8500+ campus recruitment offers are generated during the pandemic. 1800+ companies including Fortune-500 and other top-notch MNCs have recruited LPU students over the years. LPU student secures the highest domestic CTC of Rs 48 Lacs per annum; Rs 1.5 lac per month offered Internship stipend to 2022 graduating batch students; and, 1900+ virtual placement events were conducted including placement/internship drives, competitive events/projects, and workshops during the pandemic. From Amazon, Lowe's to Cisco, Highgate; LPU students leveraged an unbeatable placement support system at the university and bagged dream packages in the world's leading companies. USA's leading Company ‘Highgate’ selected LPU’s Hospitality student at Rs 32 Lakh; and, the School of Fashion’ recorded 100% placement. Presently, LPU students are working with top brands at packages of over Rs 1 Crore.
Best Opportunities Provided: Hundreds of students availed LPU’s Credit Transfer programme, Study Abroad opportunities and are pursuing programmes of their choice with top universities of the top countries across the globe. One of the LPU students became the first Indian to join NASA’s educational programme; four of NCC & NSS students have been selected for the Republic Day-2022 celebrations; Women Boxers’ team declared AIU’s Champion & Woman footballer best player of North Zone; engineering students’ “Team Electronica” won world’s biggest open innovation competition ‘Smart India Hackathon; and, NITI Aayog (Govt. of India) supported organization awarded bio-Medical student for the best innovation in ‘Artificial Intelligence’ based hardware.
