Ludhiana, January 5, 2013: Dr. Navneet Kumar Chaudhry, Professor and Head of Surgery at Christian Medical College Ludhiana has been honored as a visiting Professor in Liver and Pancreatic Surgery at the University Hospital of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in US. The medical center at the university is one of the top 10 medical schools in US.
Dr. Chaudhry returned to CMC after 2 months of his experience in liver and pancreas surgery at the university hospital in US. According to him, there is growing need for planned hi-tech surgery of liver and pancreas especially in the patients with cancers of pancreas and liver. Besides the role of surgery in primary liver cancer, there is place of surgery in patients with metastases disease limited to liver especially in cancer of colon and rectum.
Surgery of Liver and Pancreas, also called Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Surgery is a highly technical and demanding field in surgery, Dr. Chaudhry said.
