Dr. Suman Puri, Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at DMC & Hospital, Ludhiana addressing the World Congress, BCGIP (International Congress on Building Consensus in Gynecology, Infertility and Perinatology) and the 2nd Annual Congress of Fetal Medicine held in New Delhi.

Ludhiana, November 22, 2012: Dr. Suman Puri, Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at DMC & Hospital was invited as faculty at the World Congress, BCGIP (International Congress on Building Consensus in Gynecology, Infertility and Perinatology) and the 2nd Annual Congress of Fetal Medicine held in New Delhi from November 16 to 18.
She chaired the session on 'Foetal Therapy' in which Protocols of Intrauterine Blood Transfusion and current status were discussed.

The second session chaired was on 'First trimester screening and Interventional fetal testing'. This included reports in which foetal medicine from maternal serum screening to open foetal surgery were discussed.
According to Dr Suman Puri, non-invasive maternal serum screening is mandatory for all patients and should be followed up by invasive procedures like aminocentesis and CVS (chronic villous sampling) when needed. These investigations help in detecting disorders in the fetus itself and are particularly beneficial in the elderly age pregnant females as the risk of fetal abnormalities is higher in this age group.
Dr Suman Puri informed that DMCH is registered as a genetic clinic and offering invasive testing for a healthier pregnancy to all patients.
