Hotel and restaurant association of Himachal writes to RBI Governor for concessions
Hope demands will be considered sympathetically
Dharamshala: "Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Himachal Pradesh (FOHRA), a state level body, has written a letter to the Governor of Reserve Bank of India to revive loan directives and taxation system in hospitality industry to defeat the effect of Covid-19 on this sector.
Sanjeev Gandhi, State co-Convener, FOHRA while talking to this correspondent at Dharamshala said that association has written in the letter that Himachal Pradesh is one of the best tourism destination in the world, but the industry is passing through the very bad phase in the last 3-4 years due to NGT directions In 2017, bad publicity of water crisis at the capital Shimla In 2018, low occupancy In 2019 because of the Lok Sabha elections . And he further wrote that now this year came COVID -19. This created hazards in our business, pay back of good taxes towards government, levelling past losses.
It is said in the letter that to strengthen the hospitality industry, RBI is requested to launch the revive of negative NPA, so that many units could be saved to be shut and man power losing their jobs. It is also requested the concession in GST, revival current Loan for smooth operation, waive off the rate of interest for next 12 month ,reduce the rates of interest, tourist Loan with easy instalment to visit domestic destination, increase/Double the Credit card limits, amendment in CIBIL parameter and banking Rating. It has also requested to support to ancillary service provider
Concluding this letter, he said, “We hope that you will consider our request sympathetically. We ensure you the whole hearted support of FOHRA (Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations Himachal Pradesh) in implementing the laid policies and guideline in letter and spirit.”
The copy of the letter was also forwarded to Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road and Transport, Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance, Piyush Goyal, Minster of Railway and Minister of Commerce and Industry, Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Tourism, Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of State for Finance, Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minster, HP and Anil Kumar Khachi, Chief Secretary Government of HP.
