National Conference on “Functional Materials and Sensor” commenced in MDU, Rohtak.
Rohtak, February 16, 2024: Science and Technology has facilitated global progress. But ‘Humanity Touch’ is essential in the use of Science and Technology for societal benefit. Science, Scientific research and technological developments must be utilized for national development and nation-building. This was stated by eminent Scientist, and former Director, Inter University Accelator Centre (IUAC), Delhi Dr. Dinakar Kanjlal in his inspiring address in the inaugural session of National Conference “Functional Materials and Sensor” which commenced here today under the aegis of Department of Physics of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU).
Dr. Dinakar Kanjilal in his address highlighted the utility of functional materials, especially in health care, renewable energy and electronics. He underlined the importance of quantum materials in a futuristic scientific scenario. He advised the young researchers to be upon new ideas, and adapt to the changes taking place at global level. He emphasized the importance of research in basic science for achieving the developmental goals of the nation.
Dean, Academic Affairs of MDU Prof. A.S. Maan in his presidential address said that in the present times, research must cater to the needs of innovation, start-ups and entrepreneurship. He also emphasized the significance of ethical issues in research.
Head, Dept. of Physics and Convenor of this National Conference Prof. Rajesh Punia delivered the welcome address. He also threw light on the themes of this conference. Dr. Anil Ohlan expressed the Vote of Thanks. Research Scholars Priya and Ashima conducted the stage in the inaugural session.
Dr. Puspashree Mishra, Senior Scientist, DRDO Delhi and Dr. Pawan Kumar Kulriya, JNU, New Delhi delivered invited lectures on application of semiconductors and advanced nuclear materials in the technical sessions.
About 33 oral research presentations and 157 poster research presentations will be held during this two day National Conference. Faculty members of Dept. of Physics, organizing team members, senior faculty from MDU & other Universities, delegates, research scholars, etc. were present on the occasion.
