Hundred participants from 20 countries joined LPU’s Virtual Indian Workshop
Titled as "Experience Incredible India", the virtual conference was aimed for students and staff of LPU’s foreign partner universities
Jalandhar: LPU conducted a three-day virtual conference "Experience Incredible India" for students and staff of its foreign partner universities. More than hundred students and staff members of different foreign partner universities from 20 countries including the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka participated. Here, a series of virtual workshops on Yoga, Ayurveda, Managerial Skills, Bollywood Dances, Songs, and important lectures witnessed enthusiastic participation. The idea was to showcase how incredible India techniques like Yoga and Ayurveda can help people stay fit while being in-door and thus know about rich Indian heritage. As a part of this programme, students also learned about Hindi Language and famous folk dances like Bhangra, Giddha and more.
This international conference was especially conducted by LPU’s Division of International Affairs, which made the participants embrace India's rich culture, heritage and future. Additional Director at the ‘Division’, Mr Aman Mittal shares that students from across the world eagerly wait for this unique ‘Incredible India’ programme of the university, which is commonly held each semester almost during vacation times. Thus, this non-academic pursuit never hinders the academic schedule. Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, it is held virtually and with massive participation as usual.
Programme conveners, Dean Dr Sorabh Lakhanpal of Cultural Affairs and Dy. Director Supriya Mathews of International Relations apprised that the Ayurveda sessions informed participants about immunity boosting self-made Indian preparations including herbal tea, ‘ayurvedic- kadha’, golden milk (with turmeric powder), honey, lemon and more. Different yoga sessions were about various exercises in relation to mindfulness, beauty/handsomeness, diet, breath, happiness and more. Important lecture deliveries were in relation to ever progressing Indian Pharmaceutical industry and novel methods in the realms of ‘Media & Communication’. Famous songs and dances of Bollywood film-industry were also enjoyed, learnt and enacted by the participants.
In fact, LPU is a globally connected university, working with the top universities across the world. This all is to provide a truly global experience to all of the national and international students. Thus, LPU has developed a series of international study programs with partner universities. These instil a sense of global citizenship in the students, and enable them to be competitive in an increasingly "flat" world. Students go global with LPU as it connects them with top 200 foreign universities across the globe.
