Prior to this, LPU students informed all about the importance of ‘World Confederation of Physical Therapy’ and annual ‘World Physiotherapy Day’ celebration. Human body is remarkably easy to damage and break, particularly during strenuous physical activity such as sporting or athletic activity. Physical therapists work to undo damage, educate on healthy behaviour and restore lost or damaged functionality. Physical Therapy Day, so is dedicated to these professionals throughout the world, and aims to recognize their commitment to keep us all fit and fine. Interacting with LPU students, visiting physiotherapists advised them to be always true to the profession, concentrate on patients’ strength of muscles and let the nature heal the injury first of all. Taking the example of a physically injured stray dog, one of them clarified that the animal recovers slowly automatically by first keep on hanging his injured limbs and then putting those down in next days. Thus nature cures the animals and similar is the case with human beings. Sprays can’t do any magic, these provide momentary and immediate relief; whereas, exercises play effective role on each and everyone’s physical strength. To have ligaments, tissues and delicate nerves intact, all are required to go for careful physical movements. In fact, lack of physical activity is a severe threat to global health. Illustrative, ‘World Physiotherapy Day’ stands dedicated to physiotherapists all over the world in recognition of their needed work for people of all age groups and type. The main theme every year is the “Movement for Health”. Physiotherapists help people regain mobility and strength. Through manual force, mechanical force, exercise therapy, and electrotherapy, they help restore body functions. Sr Dean at LPU Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr Monica Gulati defined physiotherapist as an asset to the allied health professions because he/she can reduce the need for surgeries and long-term use of pain-killers. LPU Director General Er HR Singla presided over the conclusive day. Upholding cultural values, LPU physiotherapy students also actively participated in Quiz Rangoli and poster competitions. In cultural events, would-be physiotherapists actively participated for giddha, bhangra, solo dance-singing, histrionics and skits. Ramp walk by was one of the another highlight of the celebrations.
