Hyderabad delegation visits PAU to study farm mechanization

With an aim to understand recent advances in farm mechanization for conservation agriculture and sustainable intensification, a group of participants of international course on “Conservation Agriculture (CA) for Sustainable Intensification” from International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad visited Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today.

Ludhiana, August 10, 2023: With an aim to understand recent advances in farm mechanization for conservation agriculture and sustainable intensification, a group of participants of international course on “Conservation Agriculture (CA) for Sustainable Intensification” from International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad visited Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The group, comprising participants from Iran, Kenya and India, visited Farm Machinery Research Hall and Farm Machinery Testing Centre in the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, PAU.

While conversing, Dr HS Sidhu, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, discussed conservation agricultural practices and their role in sustainability of agriculture. He highlighted that PAU has emerged as a leader in farm mechanization with 45 per cent of is developed technologies being recommended at the national level.

Experts Dr Manpreet Singh and Dr Shiv Kumar Lohan explained the role of testing in farm machinery development and commercialization as well as explained paddy nursery sowing and straw management machinery.

Dr Mahesh Narang, Head, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, proposed a vote of thanks.

The participants showed keen interest in various facilities related to farm machinery and appreciated the faculty for providing them with a platform to interact and learn.
