ICAR-CIPHET Celebrates World Environment Day with Agro Processing Training for Women Farmers
Ludhiana, May 27, 2024: In celebration of World Environment Day, ICAR-CIPHET organized an impactful sensitization and awareness program on sustainable agro processing for women farmers in the village of Rashidpur, Chamkaur Sahib, on May 24. This initiative was designed to empower women in the agricultural sector by equipping them with vital knowledge and skills in eco-friendly agro processing techniques. Through expert-led sessions, participants were introduced to sustainable practices that not only foster environmental conservation but also enhance economic resilience. "Empowering women in agriculture with sustainable practices is crucial for environmental conservation and economic growth. This program aims to provide valuable resources and support to women farmers," stated Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Head of ToT and PI ABI, ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana. During the event demonstration of bakery products such as biscuits, muffins and cakes etc were shown to the women entrepreneurs. Women's were also encouraged to spread the message of LiFE program (Lifestyle for Environment) reduce house hold food wastage to minimize food losses. The event underscored the importance of integrating sustainable methods into agricultural practices, highlighting the significant role women farmers’ play in achieving these goals.
