ICAR-CIPHET commenced ATMA sponsored 5-days training for 30 farmers from Gaya (Bihar)
Ludhiana, September 20, 2021: ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana commenced 5-days farmers’ training on ‘Post-harvest Technology for Agriculture Produce’. Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Gaya (Bihar) sponsored training commenced with ICAR-song followed by institute video. Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana discussed about important post-harvest technologies developed by the institute and presented an overview of the institute and its activities. It was followed by a visit to agro processing centre of the institute, lecture on hygienic handling and transportation of fish and fishery products. Five days training is planned to teach the farmers about food grain-based value added product; fish processing and value addition, minimal processing and packaging of fruits and vegetables; on-farm drying and processing of agricultural and horticultural produce; post-harvest management of crop grown under protected cultivation; processing of spices; preparation of value added products from fruits and vegetables; and cold chain management, etc. This training is coordinated by Dr. Sandeep Mann, Pr. Scientist, Mr. Vikas Kumar, Scientist and Dr. K. Bembem, Scientist.
