ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana gave licensing of Live Fish Carrier System to Ludhiana based start up
India is endowed with abundant geographical resources suited for both marine and inland fisheries
Ludhiana, February 23, 2022: India is endowed with abundant geographical resources suited for both marine and inland fisheries. Safe transportation of live fish from the hatchery to the pond and then on to the market is a very important part of aquaculture but poor conditions during transport, caused by overcrowding or inadequate water quality, associated with limited oxygen or the accumulation of carbon dioxide and ammonia, also cause damage and fish mortality. Keeping in view the above factors, ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana has developed Live fish carrier system (LFCS), an electric tri-cycle based live fish transportation system for upto 80 km transportation of fish including the table carps (rohu, catla, mrigal, common carp, grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp) in live condition from one place to another for marketing, rearing, ornamental displaying and breeding purposes. It is devised with 5 water filtration, aeration and cooling system providing good quality water to reduce fish mortality while transportation. Mr. Japimder Wadhawan, young and budding Proprietor of M/s Raftaar Professional Engineering Co. Ludhiana approached the institute for licensing of this technology, Dr. Renu Balakrishnan, I/c ITMU has facilitated the event and Dr. Armaan U. Muzaddadi, inventor of this technology assured him that all possible help will be extended for commercial production of the unit. Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana awarded licensing certificate.
