ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana successfully completed Entrepreneurship Development program on waste to wealth approach
ICAR–Central Institute of Post–Harvest Engineering and Technology, Ludhiana organized a three-days Entrepreneurship Development Program on “Valorization of by-products of food processing: Waste to wealth approach” during 20-22 February, under the CRP on SA project ‘Extraction of bioactive compounds and value addition to by-products of farms and agro-processing industries’.
Ludhiana, February 22, 2024: ICAR–Central Institute of Post–Harvest Engineering and Technology, Ludhiana organized a three-days Entrepreneurship Development Program on “Valorization of by-products of food processing: Waste to wealth approach” during 20-22 February, under the CRP on SA project ‘Extraction of bioactive compounds and value addition to by-products of farms and agro-processing industries’.
In this training, four women participants of Zaika Self Help Group, Ludhiana and Swaadaum Labh Self Help Group Ludhiana were given technical knowledge and hands-on-training for processing of fruits such as amla and kinnow and rose petals to prepare processed products such as kinnow juice, amla candy & juice, rose water as well as converting the by-products into value added products like pectin, bioactive extracts, essential oils etc. through secondary processing.
The training program was coordinated by Dr. Manju Bala, Head (Act.) & Principal Scientist and Dr. Deepika Goswami, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana.
Dr. R. K. Vishwakarma, Director (I/c), ICAR-CIPHET encouraged the participants for entrepreneurship and highlighted that the processing facilities of ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana can be utilized by them to initiate or boost up their entrepreneurial activities and attain more skills for expanding their processing field.
