ICAR-CIPHET organises training programme for students of 4 SAUs
In wake of COVID-19 pandemic situation, the programme was organised through an online platform
Ludhiana: A online training for B Tech (Agriculture Engineering) students was organised by ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana during 10 June – 09 July 2021.
The training programme titled ‘Introduction to Post Harvest Engineering and Technology’ was designed under the guidance of Dr. D. N. Yadav, Head, Transfer of Technology Division to appraise the students regarding recent developments in food processing sector. About 131 students from 4 different State Agricultural Universities (DBSKKV, Dapoli (MH); MPUAT, Udaipur (RJ); IGKV, Raipur (CG); and SKUAST, Jammu) participated in the training programme. During the one-month training programme, coordinated by Dr. Sandeep P. Dawange & Dr. Renu Balakrishnan, the students interacted with the scientists of the institute and learned about different research programmes, developed technologies, and Human Resource Development (HRD) activities of the institute.
In the valedictory function, Director of the Institute Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale said that ‘ICAR-CIPHET has always thrived to provide a platform to the students for gaining knowledge in the field of advanced food processing and post-harvest management.’ He urged the students to think about entrepreneurship in processing and value addition as a great opportunity for a career. He also highlighted the readiness of the institute for the handholding of entrepreneurs through technologies developed by the Institute.
One month training programme is a mandatory requirement for the B. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) students of State Agriculture Universities across the country. In wake of COVID-19 pandemic situation, the programme was organised through an online platform.
