ICAR-CIPHET’s effort for empowering farmers of backward community through skilling in post-harvest sector for better income
The ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, Punjab has conducted a three-day training program on "Engineering and Technological Interventions for Safe Storage of Food Grains" from September 24 to 26.
Ludhiana, September 27, 2024: The ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, Punjab has conducted a three-day training program on "Engineering and Technological Interventions for Safe Storage of Food Grains" from September 24 to 26.
The programme was organised under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan of Government of India to impart technical skills and scientific knowledge to farmers of Scheduled caste. Approximately, 60 farmers (around 80% women participants) from the Chapra and Alampur village of the Payal Tehsil of Ludhiana district have actively participated in this valuable training.
Various cutting-edge engineering and technological solutions to ensure the safe storage of food grains, quality and safety were discussed.
Demonstration of technologies like probe traps, visible Light insect trap, hermetic bags, packaging and storage materials, were done providing participants with hands-on experience in addressing storage-related challenges.
Besides, videos and virtual interactions of successful entrepreneurs and advanced technologies were showcased to motivate the participants.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Guru P N, and Er. Urhe Sumit Bhausaheb, Scientists of ICAR-CIPHET, with the local support of Smt. Paramjit Kaur, Sarpanch.
The efforts of the team were appreciated by Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, Dr. Rahul Anurag, Nodal Officer SCSP and other staffs of ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana.
