ICAR-CIPHET's recent training program highlights crucial role of post-harvest mechanization and food processing in national economic growth

Ludhiana, November 25, 2023: The ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) marked the successful conclusion of a two-week training program on Food Processing, Packaging, and Value Addition of Agricultural and Livestock produce on Saturday. Organized between November 14 and 25, the initiative by the Human Resource Management Unit of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research saw active participation from eleven individuals representing nine different states. Expressing their appreciation and gratitude towards the institute's efforts, participants acknowledged the training's emphasis on the pivotal role of post-harvest mechanization and the transfer of technology to entrepreneurs. Many participants believe that these aspects will undoubtedly contribute to the country's economic growth.
Dr. Parvinder Sheoran, Chief Guest and Director of ICAR-ATARI Zone-I, commended the active involvement of participants and underscored the significance of implementing post-harvest technologies at the grassroots level through Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director of ICAR-CIPHET, expressed his satisfaction with the training program and encouraged participants to take the initiative in transferring suitable technologies to entrepreneurs in their respective locations. He assured continuous support and technical assistance from the institute in such collaborative endeavors. During the meeting, Dr. Rahul Kumar and Dr. Guru P. N., coordinators of the program, presented their report, highlighting that participants also had exposure visits to industry sites such as Keep It Fresh and Hi-Tech International in Ludhiana. Dr. Arman Muzzaddadi, Course Director, and Dr. Vikas Kumar, Course Coordinator, were also present during the event.
The training program not only equipped participants with valuable knowledge but also emphasized the practical implementation of post-harvest technologies for sustainable economic development.
