ICAR Zonal Sports Tournament concluded at Ludhiana in the presence of Padmashri Kartar Singh 

ICAR Zonal Sports Tournament (North Zone) 2023 concluded today on the 4th day at ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana. The valedictory was graced by the presence of Padmashri Kartar Singh, IPS, a distinguished sportsman and gold medallist of the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and recipient of most Indian sports awards and international recognition. Shri Amanveer Singh, another renowned sportsman representing India was the Guest of Honour. Winners were awarded in the presence of ICAR observers, referees, and Chief-de-Mission of contingents from 24 institutes from 8 north Indian states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab etc.

Ludhiana, January 20, 2024: ICAR Zonal Sports Tournament (North Zone) 2023 concluded today on the 4th day at ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana. The valedictory was graced by the presence of Padmashri Kartar Singh, IPS, a distinguished sportsman and gold medallist of the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and recipient of most Indian sports awards and international recognition. Shri Amanveer Singh, another renowned sportsman representing India was the Guest of Honour. Winners were awarded in the presence of ICAR observers, referees, and Chief-de-Mission of contingents from 24 institutes from 8 north Indian states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab etc. 

CIPHET, Ludhiana grabbed 1st in the 100m race (women) 200m race (women), 4*100 relay (women), long jump (women), high jump (women), badminton women (single) (Ritu Kukde), and badminton women (double). CIFE, Mumbai grabbed 1st in short put throw (women), Discus throw (women), Javelin throw (women), table tennis women (single) and badminton mixed (double). IISWC, Dehradun was 1st in Discus throw (men).  NBFGR, Lucknow was Javelin throw (men), Carrom (women). VPKAS, Almora was 1st in 1500m men race. IIWBR was 1st in 100m, 200m, and 400m races (men), long jump (men), high jump (men), and basketball. CPRI, Shimla was 1st in volleyball shooting, volleyball smashing, badminton (men), table tennis men (team), table tennis women (double), and table tennis mixed (double). Several other institutes grabbed 1st position in 38 events organized indoor and outdoor (e.g. races, relay, carrom, chess, cricket, football, kabaddi, basket, cycle race, etc.).

Under the chairmanship of Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET the team was organised by team CIPHET coordinated by Dr. R.K. Vishwakarma and Vishal Kumar This event boosted a new spirit, sportsmanship, and team management among various contingents. The program ended with the national anthem.
