IIT Kanpur Class of 1980 donates Rs. 4.2 Crore for Key Initiatives During 45-Year Reunion

The Class of 1980, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), during their 45-Year Reunion, announced a donation of Rs. 4.2 Crore. to support various initiatives on campus. The reunion, held from 2nd to 4th March 2025, brought together 63 alumni to reconnect, celebrate their shared journey, and contribute to the continued growth of their alma mater.

Bengaluru, March 4, 2025: The Class of 1980, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), during their 45-Year Reunion, announced a donation of Rs. 4.2 Crore. to support various initiatives on campus. The reunion, held from 2nd to 4th March 2025, brought together 63 alumni to reconnect, celebrate their shared journey, and contribute to the continued growth of their alma mater.

The collective contribution from the alumni will support key initiatives at IIT Kanpur, including contributions towards Hall 3 in celebration of their Hall Day, facility improvements across the campus, a grant towards the girls' hostel, and the creation of a Corpus Fund. The donation will also support the Prof. Pravir Dutt Excellence Award, the Prof. K.S. Gandhi and Prof. S.K. Gupta Research Excellence Award, Humanities-Technology Bridge: A Tribute to Prof. Mahajan & Prof. Dhanagare, and the Prof. S.K. Gupta and Prof. K.S. Gandhi Undergraduate Excellence Award.
Reflecting on the three-day reunion, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur said, “In addition to technical education, IIT Kanpur is committed to shaping responsible citizens who serve as catalysts for change and development.
