Jalandhar/Kapurthala, March 12, 2025: I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) celebrated International Women's Day with great enthusiasm on March 10, as post event date activity. 

The University's Women Development Cell organized a special cultural program on this special day. Former Vice Chancellor of B.R. Ambedkar University of Law Prof. (Dr.) Viney Kapoor Mehra and Dr. Veer Bala Agarwal, former Professor and Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, attended the program as special guests. The program was led by the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal as the Chief Guest. Registrar Dr. S.K. Misra attended the ceremony as special guest of the occasion.


Addressing the women staff of the university on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Susheel Mittal congratulated them on Women's Day and said that being a woman is a great blessing in itself. Women have always been powerful and are fulfilling their responsibilities well in every role. Women today are not only equal to men, but they are ahead too. They work equally to men and also take care of the house and children as a responsibility.


Registrar Dr Misra said that this day is not only important to recognize the struggles, achievements and contributions of women, but it also forces us to think that we need to take many more steps towards women empowerment.


On this occasion, special guest Dr Viney Kapoor Mehra said that we need to recognize our talent, skills, abilities, interests and inclinations and nurture the qualities with which God has blessed us. Instead of working mechanically, work to keep yourself happy and you will automatically make those around you happy.


Prof. Bir Bala Agarwal said that as a woman, take care of your health along with your responsibility. Do every work with joy and use your full potential. He said that today in our country, women have become doctors to pilots who fly planes. Today's era is the era of women.


On this occasion, a colorful program was presented by the women staff of the university. In this program, women staff presented Giddha and folk songs as well as other cultural programs. Deputy Librarian Dr. Madhu Midda and Deputy Registrar (HR) Dr. Nitya Sharma had a special contribution in the success of the program.
