IKG-PTU organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Session
University’s Business Incubation Centre Team organized special session in collaboration with Startup Punjab & Innovation Mission Punjab
Jalandhar/Kapurthala, January 24, 2024: I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness special Session for its campus students. This session was arranged by the University's Business Incubation Centre (BIC) Team in collaboration with Startup Punjab & Innovation Mission Punjab. 200+ University students from various disciplines participated in this special awareness session. University Registrar Dr S K Misra was the chief guest in this awareness session and Dean R&D Dr Hitesh Sharma attended this ceremony on special invitation.
While interacting with the students, Chief Guest Dr. S. K Misra, Registrar, IKG-PTU said that Entrepreneurship is more than just starting a business; it's a mindset, a way of thinking that encourages innovation, creativity, and resilience. He emphasized IKG-PTU's commitment in promoting innovation and startups within the University ecosystem. Dr. Misra said that IKGPTU is taking various initiatives to promote Startups including establishment of Incubation Centre at University main Campus, Kapurthala.
During the said event Salil Kaplash from Punjab Government’s Startup cell sensitized the university students about the facilities being provided by Government of Punjab for promoting startups. He said the Startup cell is providing Rs 03 Lac (three lakhs) seed fund for the startups along with other offerings.
Ashish Metha from Innovation Mission Punjab discussed I M Punjab's role in shaping the startup scene and handholding University startups in various ways. He said that Innovation Mission Punjab is introducing the best global practices related to startup promotion to Punjab, strengthening facilities and enhancing resources while providing entrepreneurs with the support they need at every stage.
While discussing his entrepreneurship journey, Mr. Sameer Sharma, Founder of Uengage, guides participants through entrepreneurial blueprints. He said that Entrepreneurship often involves facing numerous challenges and setbacks. The ability to bounce back, learn from failures, and adapt to changing circumstances is crucial for long-term success.
Dr. Hitesh Sharma, Dean Research and Development, IKG-PTU said that University research is playing a crucial role in promoting startups by fostering innovation, creating a supportive ecosystem, and facilitating the transfer of knowledge and technology from academia to the business world.
Teams from Innovation Mission Punjab and Punjab Startup Cell also visited University’s Tata Innovation Centre and applauded the infrastructure developed by the university to promote startups.
Dr. Neelkanth Grover, Head, Business Incubation Centre, Er Sushobitveer Singh, Manager, Incubation Centre & Dr. Mrigender Singh Bedi, Coordinator, Business Incubation Centre were present during the occasion.
