IKGPTU and NSDC will move forward together for the development of technical education: Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal

Jalandhar/Kapurthala: I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will move forward with a collaborative approach for the overall development of technical education. Both parties will work to start a new era of industry-supported education programs and for the all-round development of technical education in the state of Punjab. This information has been shared by Vice Chancellor I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal. He gave this information in the context of a recent visit by a team of NSDC to IKG PTU main campus. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Mittal chaired this meeting. Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura, Advisor, National Skill Development Corporation for Skill India International Mission, recently visited the University with his team. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Mittal, Registrar Dr. S.K. Misra welcomed all the members of the NSDC team.


Dr. Mittal told the team that advancement of technical education can bring socio-economic development in the state of Punjab. The pace of progress can be increased by providing quality education, promoting research and developing new technologies. During this meeting, they discussed starting new age industry-supported study programs, setting up Skill India Center at Sri Chamkaur Sahib, Foreign Language Competency Center at IKGPTU Campus and working together on Tata Center of Excellence for skill development programs. Other points of discussion included increasing employability among students, starting internship programs of one to three months duration, updating and promoting professional knowledge and skills.


After the meeting, Dr. Ekonkar Singh Johal, Deputy Registrar was nominated to take up the future course of action on the points of discussion on behalf of the University, while Mohammad Amin, DGM was given the responsibility to implement the work discussed on behalf of NSDC. Dr. S.K. Misra, Registrar, thanked the team for coming to the campus with the proposal. Prof. (Dr.) Balkar Singh, Dean, College Development, Dr. Gaurav Bhargava, Dean Planning External Programs, Dr. RPS Bedi, Dean Planning External Programs, Dr. Rajiv Chauhan, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, attended the meeting from IKGPTU side. Mohammad Amin (DGM), Anupam Mishra (Project Director QAI-UK), Anita AB (Senior Officer QAI-UK) were present from NSDC side.
