IKGPTU approached 15 thousand students for Career Counselling, Disseminated Information about opportunities in Punjab Technical Education
Common Admission Cell reaches out to 200+ Government schools and polytechnic Institutes of Punjab, more on target.
Jalandhar / Kapurthala, June 22, 2022: It is time to share the strength, worth of state Technical Education with the passing out school students and aim should be to connect students, especially government school & other institutions students with the existing technical education opportunities in Punjab. With this goal, I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) has started Student Career Counselling Campaigns on the directions of the State Technical Education Department. University started dissemination of Information about Technical Education Opportunities of Punjab in the month of April 2022 & now crossed the reach of 15 thousand students. This information was shared by Rahul Bhandari, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Government of Punjab during his recent meeting with NAAC preparation monitoring teams.
Going through the statistics of the admission cell IKGPTU, Bhandari shared that the university has taken initiative to educate the Punjab Students first in this admission session. This time admission notification was also issued by the government two months before the start of admission session. University has started counselling sessions at Govt schools for +1 & +2 students. The task behind this campaign is to educate students and their parents about the strength of Punjab Technical Education. By addressing various issues related to admission procedures, teams are convincing students to get admissions in various technical education institutions of Punjab including state Technical Universities like IKGPTU Jalandhar-Kapurthala, MRSPTU, SBSS University Ferozepur, Sardar Beant Singh University Gurdaspur & others. Teams are guiding students to join the opportunities of technical education.
University started a counselling campaign not only for its own campuses, but also for affiliated 280+ technical education campuses. The University has engaged about 100 employees of different levels under this awareness series, who have personally reached out to schools, colleges and polytechnics, especially government educational institutions in the state of Punjab on the theme "Technical Education and Bright Future". University Employees are also providing literature published by the University about the existing government and non-government educational institutional opportunities.
Rishi Gupta, Deputy Registrar (Admissions) shared that in the month of May, with a logical theme "Technical Education and Bright Future", University teams visited 74 schools & 08 polytechnic institutes in Jalandhar district, 72 schools & 04 polytechnic institutes in Kapurthala district, 46 educational institutes in Amritsar. Under the campaign so far about 15000 students of +1 and +2 have been contacted directly and made aware of the technical education of Punjab, especially the more facilities and opportunities being provided by the technical universities at low cost. He said that about 900 students have so far pre-registered on the University portal. He said that this series will continue till August.
Dean Academic IKGPTU Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla said that IKGPTU has immense opportunities for technical education and a better future. The university strives to maximize these opportunities to be given only to Punjabi students in this admission session 2022-23. Registrar Dr. S.K. Mishra while thanking the technical education department for the continuous spot being given to the universities of the state, said that this admission session is an opportunity for state students. They can get quality technical education by staying near to their homes.
"The ITIs, Skill Centers, especially I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University Kapurthala Campus and Innovation Centers at Sultanpur Lodhi have immense opportunities for students to provide world class technical education. He said that there are opportunities to create a better future in the public & private sector, but due to low cost investment in publicity, sometimes the students do not grab that many opportunities available near to their homes." said IAS Rahul Bhandari. He further clarified that each & every district of Punjab has a good number of Technical & Management colleges affiliated to IKGPTU or MRSPTU & these institutes are providing quality technical education so this time students should approach their nearest college and get a free counselling session for admission. Bhandari, Principal Secretary Technical Education suggested the students to participate in pre-register procedure by visiting the websites of technical universities/institutes in Punjab like IKGPTU's website for a bright Future.
