IKGPTU Chemistry Department presented annual academic progress report to Vice Chancellor Prof. Mittal
Chemistry Department main campus will start B.Sc and M.Sc Medical Lab Sciences courses in the new academic session

Jalandhar/Kapurthala, March 5, 2025: I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal has started taking annual academic progress reports of various academic departments of the university. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal said that this will provide an opportunity to understand the needs of various academic departments of the university and will know about starting new and important work related to the concerned department. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Mittal considers annual overview as the best way to know the departmental progress.
The first progress report was presented by the Chemistry Department of the main campus. Head of the Chemistry Department Prof. (Dr.) Gaurav Bhargava shared the work done in the field of research and academics on behalf of all the faculty members of the department in front of the Vice Chancellor. He told that currently in the market, along with B.Sc (Chemistry - Hons) and M.Sc (Chemistry), the demand for B.Sc (Medical Lab Sciences), B.Sc (Computer Science), M.Sc (Medical Lab Sciences - Biochemistry) has also increased.
He proposed to start these new courses from this academic year 2025 - 26. He said that along with B.Sc (Chemistry - Hons) and M.Sc (Chemistry), B.Sc (Medical Lab Sciences), B.Sc (Computer Science), M.Sc (Medical Lab Sciences - Biochemistry) courses will also be started in the university main campus. He placed this proposal before the Vice Chancellor as per the market demand. Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Mittal expressed satisfaction with the departmental report and encouraged faculty & students to take up research work and projects for the future through various government funding agencies. He also encouraged all faculty members to increase participation in national and international level conferences. Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Mittal asked to work on mission-based projects and focus on quality admissions in the main campus.
Registrar Dr. S.K. Mishra has called it an opportunity for all academic departments to prepare annual reports and share it in a professional manner, so that the academic growth of the university can be further improved. Dean Academics Prof (Dr) Vikas Chawla was also present on this occasion. He considered Vice Chancellor Prof Mittal's initiative as a new dimension in faculty & academic department development and said that this will strengthen academics.
