IKGPTU commemorate the Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru & Sukhdev
I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU)'s National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) wings commemorate the Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru & Sukhdev at its main campus Kapurthala. The program was attended by more than 250 NSS volunteers and NCC Cadets. The students recited poems and sang patriotic songs on the occasion. Event was organized in the mentorship of University Vice Chancellor Pro. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal. University Registrar Dr.S.K.Misra joined the event as special invitee.
Jalandhar/Kapurthala, March 24, 2024: I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU)'s National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) wings commemorate the Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru & Sukhdev at its main campus Kapurthala. The program was attended by more than 250 NSS volunteers and NCC Cadets. The students recited poems and sang patriotic songs on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Registrar Dr. S. K. Misra, appreciated the efforts put in by the students to commemorate the Martyr’s Day. He said that one of the important aspects of education is to apprise students about the supreme sacrifices made by our great freedom fighters. He said the Shaheed-E-Azam title was given to Sardar Bhagat Singh because of his exemplary dedication and rock solid commitment towards his motherland and we should never forget his fight to root out colonial rule from our country.
Dr. Chander Parkash, NSS Program Coordinator told various aspects of the life of Sardar Bhagat Singh. He told the students that Rajguru was the youngest among the three of them and he was so keen to lay his life for the country that he told both Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev Thapar that he will be hanged first. He also said that Bhagat Singh was a great scholar of Sanskrit and Arya Samaji. He won national level essay competition in Sanskrit organized by one of the great institutions in Varanasi thrice in a row.
Dr. Naveen Sharma, NCC Incharge appealed to the students to conserve the rich heritage of freedom struggle and study the life of such freedom fighters so that they should get motivated and tell their stories to their young fellow students, brothers & sisters. At the end, he thanked everyone and the program ended with the National Anthem.
