IKGPTU contributes Rs 2265533 lakh to CM’s Relief Fund for Covid-19 fight
University regular employees of each category participated voluntarily
Jalandhar/Kapurthala: I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) has joined the fight against COVID-19 pandemic from very first day through various activities. Now, with the motivation of Minister Technical Education S. Charanjit Singh Channi, University’s total 436 regular employees of each category participated voluntarily and contributed total Rs. 22,65,533/- to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Punjab.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma said that recently conversation was held with Minister Sr Charanjit Singh Channi Ji on this subject and he shared the valuable vision & initiatives of state government. "We shared their motivational facts with our employees to generously donate from their salaries. We also motivated staff and students to support people by providing them daily need based items or support maximum for their other needs during lockdown." VC Prof Sharma further said.
It is worth mentioning that in the first week of March, University’s NSS Volunteers contributed through awareness drive in nearby villages against COVID 19. After that University designed and developed Face shields as product to protect doctors & medical staff who are on duty from the effects of Corona virus disease (COVID-19). This is a joint venture of University with Tata Technologies.
Minister Technical Education Sr. Charanjit Singh Channi also appreciated University’s initiative of production of face shield & contribution in various sector during COVID-19.
IAS Anurag Verma, Principal Secretary Technical Education said that this is the time for everyone to contribute maximum in any sector to strengthen the state government’s efforts to fight with COVID-19.
“As a part of society and as responsible citizens committed to duty towards the nation, this is the right time to act. All should take it as personal challenge that bring society’s vulnerabilities to the fore and call on us to show care & compassion.” said Eminent Scientist Dr. S.K. Salwan, Chairman BOG, IKGPTU.
University also appealed to all its affiliated colleges for maximum participation in all type of State Govt. initiatives for the sustainability and development of the society and to cover up this crisis.
