IKGPTU journalism students get benefit of practical of two core subjects
University organized two different expert lectures on radio and public relations
Jalandhar/Kapurthala: The Journalism & Mass Communication Students of I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University recently get benefitted through two expert lectures. University organized two different expert lectures related to two core subjects of Journalism & Mass Communication. First one day expert Lecture was on Radio: The Theater of Mind and the second lecture was on Public Relations.
University’s Journalism & Mass Communication Department called famous Radio personality Nitin Gupta, Associate Vice President Programming, Radio Mirchi for first expert lecture and for second lecture on Public Relations, department called Manwinder Singh, District Public Relations Officer (DPRO, Govt. of Punjab) Jalandhar-Kapurthala as resource person for the day.
Nitin Gupta, in his interactive session with the students explained how radio gained its popularity over the years in India. He inspired the students to be content creator, influencer and expert in any one area to establish successfully in the field of media. He also conducted a group activity with the students, through which he taught them how to work in different segments of a radio. The budding journalists of the department actively participated in the activity and learnt a lot for life and were motivated to prepare themselves for a bright career in radio channels offer.
In 2nd lecture DPRO Manvinder Singh explained thoroughly the concept of Public Relations to undergraduate and Post graduate students. He said, "Public Relation is not a new area. It is as old as civilization. A good Public Relations Officer shapes an organization's image. He builds the brand and communicates the message of an organization to the public." DPRO Manvinder Singh further said that to be a successful PRO, one has to be loyal towards his organization, develop the art of handling the crisis.
In the end, Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Head of JMC Department IKGPTU delivered his vote of thanks to the experts. Before it, Dr. Ekta Mahajan and along with other teaching fraternity extended cordial welcome to the resource persons.
