Chandigarh, October 30, 2012: The Punjab government has stepped up drive against illegal mining in the state as 24 more FIRs were registered during last three days.

Disclosing this here today, Anil Joshi, Industries and Commerce Minister, Punjab informed that the industry department was continuing with the stringent action against illegal miners and state government was committed to check this menace with iron hand.

He said that the district-wise details of FIR registered are: Amritsar(2), Pathankot(8), Batala(1), Bathinda(1),  Ferozpur(2), Hoshiarpur(1), Jalandhar(2), Kapurthala(2),  Ludhiana(2) Moga(2) and Fazilka(1) i.e. Total-24. Thus making a total 53 F.I.R's in last one week. Pathankot District has turned out to be the worst affected area with 8 F.I.R's in last 3 days and in total 12 F.I.R's have been lodged in District Pathankot in the last one week.

Joshi informed that along with aforesaid F.I.R's, more than 30 number of Vehicle including Trucks, Trolleys, Tipper & J.C.B have also been impounded in the State. The Minister said that strict action should continue unabated against illegal miners and requested the public to lodge their complaints in this regard with the General Manager-cum-Mining Officer of the concerned district.
