Chandigarh, January  8, 2013: Anil Joshi, Industries and Commerce Minister, Punjab today said that in its continuing stringent action against illegal miners, the Punjab Government has registered 66 more FIRs against the illegal mining  during  December last.

While giving the district-wise details Joshi said that 8 case have been registered in district Amritsar, whereas each 2 in Pathankot and Bathinda , Faridkot (13), Ferozpur (6), Hoshiarpur (4),S.B.S Nagar (8), Jalandhar (3), Ludhiana (2), Moga (1), S.A.S Nagar (5) and 12 in Ropar.

He further said that alongwith aforesaid FIRs, as many as 78 vehicles including trucks, trolleys, tipper and JCBs indulging in illegal mining have also been impounded in the state.

The minister said that strict action should continue unabated against illegal mining involved in mining of brick earth, sand, gravel and ordinary earth.

Joshi also informed that auction of 22 sand quarries are going to be held on January 10 and 11 and once the auction is completed the sand supply from their 22 quarries should be available, which should the supply of mineral to the public.

The minister requested the public to lodge their complaints in this regard with the General Manager-cum-Mining Officer of the concerned district.
