IMA strike call: Livasa Hospital docs carry out protest march
In support of Indian Medical Association‘s call for 24-hour strike, doctors of Livasa Hospital Mohali (previously Ivy Hospital) on Saturday carried out a solidarity protest march from hospital to sector 17 in Chandigarh. Livasa Hospital also suspended all elective OPD and hospital services today.
Chandigarh , August 17: In support of Indian Medical Association‘s call for 24-hour strike, doctors of Livasa Hospital Mohali (previously Ivy Hospital) on Saturday carried out a solidarity protest march from hospital to sector 17 in Chandigarh. Livasa Hospital also suspended all elective OPD and hospital services today.
Carrying placards and raising slogans, the doctors condemned the heinous rape and murder of 31-year-old trainee doctors at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkatta.
Dr. Raka Kaushal director of nephrology said,” The horrific event has shocked the entire medical community and the nation. As healthcare providers, we are deeply disturbed and saddened by this heinous act. Our hearts go out to the victim and their family, and we stand with them in their time of grief.”
“Our commitment to stand in solidarity with the victim and to demand justice. We believe that suspending our services can draw attention to the urgent need for a safer environment for all medical professionals. Our collective demand for justice and a safer environment for all medical professionals,” said Dr. Vijay Bansal, director surgical oncology.
