Dr. Samra urged the state government to review its decision to delink the salaries of college teachers from UGC pay scales
Jalandhar: Implementation of Sixth pay commission for Punjab Government employees was a good decision. This was the opinion of Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra Principal Lyallpur Khalsa College and President Principal's Association of Affiliated Colleges Jalandhar who called it a much needed and much awaited decision. He also welcomed budget provisions for post matric scholarship students. Dr Samra said that making provisions of Rs. 5 Crores for Guru Granth Sahib Study Centre of GNDU and of Rs. 90 crores for Punjabi University was a decision worth appreciation as it would promote research activities in the state universities. He said that providing 1064 crores to the state universitiies could prove highly supportive to the higher education setup of the state. Dr. Samra urged the state government to review its decision to delink the salaries of college teachers from UGC pay scales as it could harm the growth of higher education sector.
