Ludhiana, April 29, 2024: With the sincere efforts of the district administration to expedite the lifting of wheat from grain markets in the district has showing positive results as procurement agencies have lifted record 44700-MT wheat in 24-hours from Ludhiana grain markets.
In a meeting to review the wheat procurement operations, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney stated that procurement agencies had been instructed to lift all of their procured stocks so that more space would be available for the fresh produce arriving in the grain markets. The total crop arrival has reached 676901.4 metric tonnes in the district, in which procurement agencies have procured 618013.45 metric tonnes of wheat.
The Deputy Commissioner further disclosed that farmers had received payments worth Rs 1267.2 crores. She also emphasized that the district administration had made elaborate arrangements to ensure that farmers did not face any problems during the entire operation.
Sawhney directed officials to regularly monitor procurement operations in the district, ensuring the convenience of the farmers. She asked officials to ensure the availability of drinking water, toilet facilities, sanitizers, and other necessary facilities. She also asked officials to maintain the lifting pace until the completion of the season and extend a helping hand to farmers throughout the season.
