In Ludhiana, payments worth Rs. 685.5 crores made to farmers: Jitendra Jorwal

Ludhiana, October 23, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal stated on Tuesday that payments amounting to Rs. 685.5 crores have been cleared for the purchase of paddy to farmers across the district.
While discussing the progress of the procurement activities in his office, the Deputy Commissioner revealed that a total of 349,097.3 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has been arrived, with 2,99967.5 MT has been procured. Stressing the state government's commitment to ensuring the purchase of every single grain from farmers, he further mentioned that all necessary preparations and efforts have been made in the Mandis to guarantee a smooth process of procurement and payment, ensuring that farmers face no difficulties in selling their produce.
Jorwal also directed the chiefs of the procurement agencies to hasten the process of lifting the paddy from the Mandis. He cautioned that any negligence in this regard is unacceptable and undesirable, urging the officials to ensure that the farmers' produce is purchased and lifted promptly to support them.
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the importance of the procurement agency heads visiting the Mandis daily to monitor the operations at the grassroots level.
