Inaugural Programme for Training on Carbon Auditing of Agricultural and Allied Systems Activities
The ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, is currently hosting the Training Programme on Carbon Auditing of Agricultural and Allied Systems Activities from May 21-23.
Ludhiana, May 22, 2024: The ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, is currently hosting the Training Programme on Carbon Auditing of Agricultural and Allied Systems Activities from May 21-23.
This inclusive training programme has attracted 22 participants from all corners of the country, representing diverse fields such as Processing and Food Engineering, Soil and Water Engineering, Agronomy, and Animal Sciences. The programme is designed to equip these research engineers with the necessary tools to identify and amend carbon-intensive agricultural practices, ensuring sustainable food production in the face of changing climatic scenarios.
The event is taking place at the Conference Hall, ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana. Dr Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana, chaired the inaugural session. Dr K Narsahia was the Guest of Honour, and Dr DK Benbi was there as an Expert.
Dr Rakesh Sharda, Course Director, welcomes the guests. Dr Nachiket Kotwaliwale commended the organisers for arranging this training programme, talked about the importance of carbon in life, and added that even leaving the water in the glass can add to more carbon emissions. Dr K. Narsaiah, ADG (PE), ICAR, New Delhi, and the Guest of Honour stressed integrating carbon auditing in every research project to better manage the environmental impact. Dr D K Benbi, Former National Professor-ICAR, PAU, talked about climate change and its effects on agriculture. Dr Pankaj Kumar, Scientist, ICAR-CIPHET, presented the vote of thanks. Dr Pooja Goyal coordinated the programme.
