Inauguration ceremony of Modern Kitchen Complex and Exclusive Self Service Washing Area Facility of Boys Hostel No.7

Chandigarh, March 19, 2022: Today, Swami Vivekananda Hall, Boys Hostel No. 7 of Panjab University organised an event for inauguration ceremony of Modern Kitchen Complex and Exclusive Self Service Washing Area Facility of Boys Hostel NO. 7 along with kick started a two days training programme for all the mess and canteen contractors of all the hostels of Panjab University.

The chief guest of the programme was Prof. Raj Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor along with Guest of Honour Professor S.K. Tomar who was Dean Research of Panjab University before joining current position as Vice Chancellor JC Bose University of Science and Technology, Faridabad. On the occasion Prof. Jagtar Singh (DSW), Prof. Meena Sharma (DSW-W) and Prof. Ashok Kumar (A-DSW) were also present. Other noted dignitaries of the event were Prof. Prashant Gautam, Director Sports, Prof. Anil Monga, Dr. Dinesh Kumar (Fellow PU), Dr. Naveen Kumar (Programme Officer NSS), Dr. Vivek Kumar (Programme Officer NSS), Chef Jaswinder from UIHTM, Chef Sunil Arya from IHM Chandigarh, Chef Sucharu from IHM Chandigarh, Chef Harish from Winny Bakery, Chef Kavesh Attari (HOD Ryat and Bahra Hoshiarpur and 15 wardens of various hostels of Panjab University graced the occasion. There were 60 participants from mess and canteens of hostels who took part in this event along with many students of hostel and university.

Some of the highlights of facilities which were inaugurated in the service of students of Panjab University are Exclusive Self Service Washing Area with washing machines for residents, New system for drinking water in both the blocks, Complete renovation of Wash Rooms one side of Block-II (Ground to Top Floor) and Modern Kitchen Complex which primarily includes new flooring of all kitchen and stores, tiling of walls of all kitchens, stores and outer area, introducing the concept of open drain system, fixed structure less kitchen, introduced the system of Two 02 sink units, installation of New High Safety Gas pipe line, installation of Industrial Exhaust system in all Kitchens, installation of Air Washer, LED lighting in cooking area, 16 CCTV cameras in kitchens, stores, washing area for better monitoring, High Pressure washer cleaning, 35 kg Dough Mixer, Potato peeler Machine, New Vegetable cutting machine, Industrial mixer etc.
 
Vice Chancellor visited Mess and Canteen areas along with all the invited guests and Warden of Boys Hostel No. 7 Dr. Arun Singh Thakur explain each and every concept i.e. how to operate/use the new installed Machines as well as food hygiene related information.  

Vice Chancellor highly appreciated the concept adopted and executed by Hostel staff and emphasised to have implementation of modernisation of kitchens in other hostels of University.
