Inauguration of FM Community Radio Station at GNDEC

Ludhiana, April 2, 2016: Prof (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Secretary, University Grants Commission, New Delhi launched the new FM Community Radio Station FM 90.8 MHz at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC), Ludhiana. With this launch GNDEC has become the first Engineering College in this region to have its own FM-CRS. Dr.Sandeep Singh Gill, HOD (ECE) and Chairman, FM-CRS welcomed the esteemed guests on this occasion.
In his inauguration speech Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu said that Ludhiana being one of the most important Cities of Punjab needed such an initiative. He applauded the staff with the hope that new community radio station will herald a new beginning in the city.
Dr. Manohar Singh Saini (Director, GNDEC) in his speech highlighted that the FM CRS has been established with the encouragement of President (Jathedar Avtar Singh Ji) and members of Nankana Sahib Education Trust, Ludhiana. The sole motive of establishing this FM CRS is to serve the society by unraveling community issues. Apart from providing career counselling and educational guidance, it will also include programmes catering an assortment of interests like Gurbani, inspirational and motivational programmes, social issues etc. Dr.Saini, applauded the uphill struggle and dedication that each and every concerned employee has made into make FM-CRS a success. Prof. Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Station Head FM-CRS said that initial broadcast timings of FM-CRS will be 7 am to 11 am and 3 pm to 7 pm, which will gradually increase. Other personalities present on this occasion included Dr. Buta Singh, Dean (Academics) IKG Punjab Technical University, Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Registrar, IKG Punjab Technical University and Heads of all Departments of GNDEC, Ludhiana.
