Ferozepur, December 8, 2012:  To make the dreams of freedom fighters and martyrs true, it is the responsibility of all of us to amicably settle the mutual  disputes and court  cases so that the load in the courts is reduced besides saving time and money of the people. 

These words were expressed by Justice A. K. Sikri, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court and other judges, after inaugurating the first block of District Judicial Complex constructed at a cost of Rs.55 crore and laying the foundation stone of ADR Centre, while addressing the advocates, prominent citizens, judges, district administrative officers and others.

Chief Justice A. K. Sikri said, “Our effort is that all should get the justice quickly and at the nearest place”. 

He also said, Ferozepur is an old and historic city and the long pending demand of the people have been and they will be able to avail of all services relating to court under one roof.  The first phase of the building has been completed and remaining constructions work is going on war footing. Besides this, the foundation stone of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre has also been laid to provide the free legal services to the people.

Before this, inaugurating the Sub-judicial Court at Guruharsahai, Chief Justice A. K. Sikri said, the women are not behind the men in any field and it is the duty of all of us to give them due respect in the society and due rights to them.  He also said, our emphasis should be to settle the issues relating to women and children at own level instead of moving to the courts.  He further said, it is our endeavour to settle the pending court cases at the earliest possible.

Justice Jasbir Singh, chairman, Punjab State Legal Services, Justice Ranjit Singh, Chairman Building Committee, Justice Surya Kant also addressed the audience.

On this occasion, Justice S. S. Sodhi, former Judge Allahabad High Court, Vardev Singh Maan, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, MLA, Varinder Pal Singh, SSP, Ferozepur, Justice R. K. Garg, Justice R. K. Jain, Justice Jaswant Singh, Justice T. S. Dhindsa, Justice R. P. Nagrath and in good number of citizens of the area were present.

Dr. S. Karuna Raju, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur and Fatehdeep Singh, District and Sessions Judge, Ferozepur thanked the Chief Justice along with all the visiting Judges for inaugurating the judicial complex and laying the foundation stone of ADR Centre as thousands of people coming from far and wide for judicial work will have a sight of relieve once the new district judicial complex starts functioning from its new location.
