Ludhiana, October 23, 2024: Ludhiana Cares Ladies Society is proud to announce the inauguration of a new Basketball Academy in Dakha village, dedicated to providing free coaching for boys and girls from government schools. This initiative is supported by Teja Singh Dhaliwal, Senior Vice President of the Basketball Federation of India.

At the inauguration, Dr. Renu Beri, President of Ludhiana Cares, stated, “The primary aim of this initiative is to foster the spirit of sports and offer government school children exposure to formal basketball training. Building on the success of our previous project in 2023, where we constructed a basketball court at Chattar Singh Park in Model Town, we are excited to expand our efforts. Under Dhaliwal’s guidance, we have recruited two dedicated coaches and significantly enhanced our basketball infrastructure, leading to impressive performances from students of Government Schools, particularly Government School Jawaddi, Government School Ambedkar Nagar, and Nishkaam Sewa School in district-level basketball tournaments this year.”

The new Basketball Academy exemplifies the impact Ludhiana Cares seeks to achieve through organized sports, aiming to nurture young talent and positively influence local communities. The academy features a state-of-the-art basketball court built to international standards, a result of a collaborative effort between GTBIMT Dhaka and Ludhiana Cares.

The inauguration was attended by notable figures in the basketball community, including Harjinder Singh, Retired Coach, SAI Jammu; Rajinder Singh, Head Coach, Ludhiana Basketball Academy; KK Jaggi, Senior Coach, Ludhiana Basketball Academy. All three coaches are distinguished international basketball mentors who will contribute their expertise to the academy.

Ludhiana Cares Ladies Society is committed to empowering youth through sports, and this new academy marks a significant step forward in providing opportunities for local children to thrive in basketball and beyond.
