Independence Day Celebration at PU

Chandigarh, August 16, 2022: The Independence Day program at Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, began with unfurling of National Flag at Parade Ground by Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor(VC), Panjab University, who graced the occasion as the chief guest for the event.
 
Addressing the gathering, PU VC Prof. Raj Kumar highlighted various achievements of Panjab University. He highlighted the achievements made by various Departments and centres of the University. Earlier, Prof. Y.P.Verma, Registrar welcomed the gathering.
 
The program saw a lively march-past ceremony by PU Security Ex-servicemen, PU Security Guards, NCC cadets (Girls & Boys) and students of Ankur School. The cultural programme thereafter commenced with the patriotic song by Music Department, followed by a patriotic dance by Ankur School Students, Dance by students of Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir, Sr. Secondary School, Ratwara Sahib.  
 
Thereafter awards were presented to  NCC cadets and volunteers apart from honouring employees with commendation certificate, cash prize of Rs. 2100/- and Memento for outstanding performance to employees of the Panjab University. Apart from this, letter of appreciation for their outstanding performance in their office work was also given to Sher Singh, Cleaner, Desh Raj, Library Restorer,  Manish Kumar, Helper,  Ram Chandra Mahota, Lineman,  Subhash Chander,  Indra Rani, PA and  Harjinder Kaur, Assistant Registrar.   
 
Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Department of Hindi proposed the vote of thanks for the event
 
Prof. Renu Vig, Dean University Instruction, Prof. Kashmir Singh, Secretary to Vice Chancellor, Prof Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examination, Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Director, R&D, Prof. Anju Suri, Dean College Development Council, Prof. Prashant Gautam, Directorate of Sports, Mr. Vikram Nayyar, Finance & Development Officer, Sh. Vikram Singh, Chief of University Security, Prof. Jagtar Singh, Dean Student Welfare(DSW)and Prof. Roopali Garg DSW(W), Prof Ashok Kumar, Associate DSW, PU Fellows, Deans, Chairpersons, University Officials and various students attended the function.
